Leaking Aqua One Filter Tap Problems

Water flows constantly through the taps for the Aqua One Advance 2250/2450 canister filter and plastic is the only suitable material for them. Sadly plastic fatigues easily and with use the Aqua One taps can begin leaking. The escaping aquarium water trickles along the tap body and pools on the top of the filter or runs down the filter and wets the surface the filter is standing on. The more the Aqua One tap is moved around the more it leaks.

The only real solution to leaking filter taps is to fit new ones. This cures the issue one hundred percent and is worth every penny when water has been escaping all over the floor. We frequently suggest fitting new Aqua One seals at the same time: a main sealing ring and primer cap if required. This ensures that all common sources of leaks are dealt with.

Fitting Aqua One Filter Taps

Take your time when fitting new Aqua One taps. Cut the last couple of centimetres off the hose ends so that the tap can grip new, clean hose.  If the pipework you have is old and very discoloured consider buying new Aqua One hose which will be softer and much more supple. Push the hose down onto the Aqua One tap while you tighten the twist fit pipe locks to ensure maximum connection. If the new Aqua One tap doesn’t seem to fit into the filter you will find a small section of the old tap has snapped off and is lodged inside  - remove this and the new tap will fit with ease.
