Aqua One Sponge Pad for Ocellaris 400 143s
An Aqua One 143s replacement sponge insert to suit the Aqua One Ocellaris 400 external filter. The 143s sponge should be changed every four to six months for a new one. Inbetween its fine to rinse the 143s sponge out in a little aquarium water at clean out time.
Function -143s
The Aqua One 143s sponge pad is designed solely to fit the new Ocellaris 400 compact external canister filter. The 143s acts to collect solid waste and also to act as a culture medium for essential aerobic filtration bacteria
Effect on Flow Rate
Because the 143s is constructed from quite fine sponge it will reduce the flow rate of your Ocellaris 400 when blocked and dirty. Reduced filter flow rate can be catastrophic for aquarium water quality. The solution is thankfully simple – just replace the 143s as required.
Lifespan
The 143s should last several months of average use and may be rinsed in a little aquarium water at filter clean out time (the dirty water should then be discarded). Over time however the cell structure of the foam collapses and the foam needs ever more frequent cleaning, for this reason we suggest replacing it every four to six months.
Pack size
One 143s is provided per pack. Making a pack last between four and six months. Heavily stocked aquariums may shorten this life span – do what is required to keep you Aqua One Ocellaris 400 filtering at a good pace.

The Aqua One 143s Sponge Pad works best with the Aqua One 143w Polymer Wool Pad and, of course, Aqua One’s Bionoodles 600g.
