Complete Service kit for Aqua One Lifestyle 127 and Lifestyle Classic 125
The Aqua One 168c
The Aqua one 168c carbon and polymer wool filter cartridge has been developed to suit the Lifestyle 127 and Lifestyle Classic 125 aquariums with their excellent overhead built in trickle filter.
How does the Aqua One 168c Work?
The 168c features two layers of filtration . An initial layer of polymer 'wool' traps solid waste. This is followed by a tray containing activated carbon pieces which trap organic compounds of all types including Ammonia, odours and tannin from the aquarium water. The 168c cannot be washed out - once it is dirty it should be changed for a new cartridge.
How Long does the Aqua One 168c Last?
The life span of an Aqua One 168c filter cartridge will vary around how hard it is asked to work. In a lightly stocked aquarium, with few fish that a lightly fed, the 168c may last 8 weeks. Contrast this with a busy, heavily stocked set up that is feed generously several times per day where a new cartridge pack is required every two to three weeks. We always suggest around a month to six weeks as an average life.
My mate says you can wash these cartridges out and use them again. As ever the answer depends on what result you are looking for. Wash your cartridges out and reuse them with pleasure - but dont expect, clean, clear, odour free aquarium water. You sadly, cannot regenerate a cartridge by rinsing under the tap - we wish it was that simple.
The Aqua One 168s Sponge set.
The Aqua One 168s comprises of two pieces of specially selected open cell polymer sponge designed to culture beneficial filtration bacteria and trap larger waste.
How Long Does the Aqua One 168s Last?
The 168s sponge may be rinsed out in a little aquarium water - never under the tap. The dirty water should then be discarded.
Eventually, the cell structure of the 168s begins to break down and it should be replaced - we suggest every three to six months or so, depending on use.
