A Pack of two Aqua One 142s black, fine replacement sponge pads to suit the Aqua One Ocellaris 3000UV external filters. The 142s sponge should be changed every four to six months for a new one. Inbetween its fine to rinse the 42s sponge out in a little aquarium water at clean out time.

Function -142s

The Aqua One 142s Black sponge pad is designed solely to fit the new Ocellaris 3000UV external canister filter. The 142s is a fine(35ppi) foam sponge. It acts to collect solid waste and also provides a culture medium for essential aerobic filtration bacteria

Effect on Flow Rate

Because the 142s is constructed from quite fine sponge it will reduce the flow rate of yourOcellaris 3000UV until quite blocked and dirty. Reduced filter flow rate can be catastrophic for aquarium water quality. The solution is thankfully simple – just rinse the 142w as required in a little aquarium water and be prepared to replace the sponge as required

Lifespan

The 142s should last several months of average use and may be rinsed in a little aquarium water at filter clean out time (the dirty water should then be discarded). Older 142s sponge inserts tend to become blocked very easily because their cell structure is less resilient, for this reason we suggest replacing it every four to six months.

Pack size

Two 142s are provided per pack. Making a pack last between eight and twelve months. Heavily stocked aquariums may shorten this life span – do what is required to keep your Aqua One Ocellaris 3000UV filtering effectively.

Use With

The Aqua One 142s Sponge Pad works best with the Aqua One 141w Polymer Wool Pad, the 142s black sponge pad and, of course, Aqua One’s Bionoodles 600g. Inserting a bag of Aqua One’s Advance Carbon 450g between the Aqua One 141w Polymer Wool Pad and the 142s black sponge pad in the top filter tray can bring large benefits in terms of clearer, odour free aquarium water – well worth doing in our view.
