Over time levels of both toxic NO2 (nitrite) and NO3 (nitrate) are hugely reduced by incorporating a piece of the Aqua One Nitrite/Nitrate pad into your filter. May be cut to fit canister filters, internal filters and hang on filters. Also suits tropical sump systems very well. Not for marine use.
